Lilian’s journey with the Kenya Children’s Home began in December 2013. She holds a diploma from the Kenya Institute of Management and has pursued online coursework in business and accounting fundamentals from U.S. institutions. Over the years, she has honed her skills in leadership, administration, project management, computer operations, basic counseling, and addressing trauma-related issues, all while gaining insights into child development stages. Through her service at the children’s home, Lilian has deepened her faith and understanding of God, and she finds profound joy in championing the children’s home’s vision and mission while nurturing and supporting all the children under her care.
Beyond her commitment to the Kenya Children’s Home, Lilian actively contributes to the New Life Christian Church in Nairobi as a devoted deaconess, children’s Sunday school teacher, and national women’s secretary. In her personal life, Lilian is happily married to her husband, Philip, and they lovingly raise three children together. Family forms the cornerstone of her world, serving as her unwavering support and sharing her passion for the children’s home. In her precious moments of leisure, Lilian revels in travel, cherishing time with family and friends, and serving on the Lord’s mission field.
Dennies Kiplagat Mutai
Social Worker and Office Assistant
In April 2022, Dennies became an integral part of our team at the Kenya Children’s Home, taking on the dual role of Assistant Social Worker and Office Assistant at our Kenyan site. His deep passion for serving Kenya’s most vulnerable children is evident in his daily commitment and the genuine connections he forges with the kids at the children’s home. Beyond his designated roles, Dennies consistently goes the extra mile as an office assistant, offering valuable support in various capacities.
What truly lights up Dennies’s work is witnessing the children’s beaming smiles and their access to fundamental necessities like education, good health, and shelter. It’s the joy of contributing to these vital aspects of their lives that makes his role particularly fulfilling.
Tereza Afande
Kitchen Supervisor
Tereza’s journey with the Kenya Children’s Home began in January 2016, and her presence has been a delightful addition to our family. Beyond her remarkable dedication, Tereza is a culinary wizard, and she relishes the chance to share her passion for cooking by teaching the children how to prepare some of Kenya’s beloved dishes.
Outside of the kitchen, Tereza’s interests take her on varied adventures. She finds solace in the soothing waters of swimming, draws inspiration from her Bible readings, and savors the thrill of exploring new places through travel.
Hannah Chege
House Mom
Hannah embarked on her journey with the Kenya Children’s Home in December 2020, assuming the crucial role of a House Mom, tending to the needs of girls aged 0 to 7 years old. When she’s not wholeheartedly caring for the children, Hannah finds solace and joy in her favorite pastimes, which include reading, sharing her melodic voice through singing, unwinding with TV, and cherishing quality moments spent with cherished friends.
James Ekamais
Driver and Maintenance
James has been an invaluable part of the Kenya Children’s Home team since February 2000, a testament to his unwavering commitment to the mission. His role encompasses the management of maintenance projects on-site, ensuring the facilities run smoothly. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role in the daily routine by safely driving the bus that transports the primary-aged children to and from school, demonstrating his dedication to their well-being and education. James has also become the designated goalkeeper when the kids play football.
Marcy Karanja
House Mom
In 2020, Marcy became an integral part of the Kenya Children’s Home family, assuming the role of House Mom. When not dedicated to her caregiving responsibilities, Marcy finds delight in her pastimes, which include expressing herself through song and engaging in spirited volleyball matches.
Mercy Karitie
House Mom
In 2019, Mercy embarked on her journey with the Kenya Children’s Home, serving as a House Mom for the middle school and high school girls. A loving mother to four children of her own, Mercy brings a wealth of nurturing experience to her role. One of the most cherished aspects of her work at the children’s home is the opportunity to engage with the children through storytelling and listening to their unique perspectives on life, fostering meaningful connections.
Robert Kotut
Agricultural Assistant
In the spring of 2021, Robert became an integral part of the Kenya Children’s Home, collaborating with Timothy in the role of Agricultural Assistant. Robert’s journey includes education at the Tertiary College of Stone, where he honed valuable skills in the livestock farming industry. His family life is graced by his marriage to Doreen, and together they have been blessed with a son.
Agneta Kupalo
House Mom
Agneta embarked on her journey with the Kenya Children’s Home in the spring of 2012, serving as a flexible House Mom who readily steps in to support her colleagues during their breaks. In her moments of leisure, Agneta finds joy in the harmonious tunes of singing, the spiritual solace of reading her Bible, the relaxation of TV time, and the adventures that come with traveling.
Kimathi Muturi
House Dad
In January 2020, Kimathi became a cherished member of the Kenya Children’s Home, taking on the role of House Dad for boys aged 9 to 14, including the high school-aged boys. What truly brings Kimathi joy in his role as a house parent is the opportunity to connect with the children by engaging in quality time together, whether through playful games or participating in enriching extracurricular activities.
Timothy Ngunya
Agricultural Supervisor
Timothy became a valuable part of the Kenya Children’s Home in the spring of 2016, taking charge of all agricultural aspects on-site, tending to the flourishing garden and the contented livestock. In fact, his dedication is so evident that the cows can’t help but express their appreciation with joyful “moos” whenever they spot Timothy approaching. He is not only a diligent and hardworking individual but also an exceptional teacher, sharing his knowledge and skills with passion and patience.
Beldine Yambo
House Mom
Beldine became a cherished member of the Kenya Children’s Home in 2018, assuming the role of House Mom for boys aged 0 to 7 years old. Her greatest source of satisfaction in her work is the opportunity to invest quality time with the children, nurturing their growth and well-being. During her leisure moments, Beldine finds solace and inspiration through her love for travel, deep spiritual reflection in reading her Bible, and the uplifting melodies of worship songs.
Alice Naliaka Wanjala
Kitchen Assistant
In February 2022, Alice became a cherished member of the Kenya Children’s Home team. A devoted mother of four children, she contributes her skills in the kitchen and extends her nurturing spirit by actively mentoring and serving the children. Alice’s dedication is a source of inspiration, as she stands ever-ready to assist and guide the young ones under her care.
Margaret Wambui Mjoroge
House Mom
Margaret became a valuable addition to the Kenya Children’s Home team in July 2021. As a loving mother of two children, she channels her deep passion into her work, always eager and prepared to lend a helping hand and support the children. Margaret’s unwavering dedication shines through, making her an invaluable asset to the organization.
Grace Mumbi Mwangi
House Mom
Grace started with the Abba’s Children’s Home in January of 2024 as a House Mom. She is a resident of Nyandarua County, and is a mom to a baby girl. She enjoys her new position at the children’s home, and loves all of her co-workers.
Dorcus Namwenya Mukekhe
House Mom
Dorcus began her position with the Abba’s Children’s Home in early 2024. She is a resident of Bungoma county, and is a mother of 3 children. She feels blessed to be with the Abba’s Children’s Home, and loves spending time with the children.
Robinson Munyao and Moreen Mumbua
Spiritual Leaders
Robinson and Moreen started as Spiritual Leaders with the Abba’s Children’s Home in early 2024. They have been married for 17 years and are blessed with two sons. They have served in their church as leaders for many years working with youth and teen groups. Through serving, their faith has grown exponentially. Moreen enjoys singing and reading inspirational books, and Robinson loves adventure, sports, and movies.
